A joyful evening took place in Media, PA, arranged by the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia and the Greater Delaware Valley. The event began with the Young Leaders hosting a lively Christmas Parea and Poto gathering, a monthly tradition that always attracts a large group of people. The atmosphere was full of holiday cheer, and everyone had a great time.
As the evening progressed, the Federation’s Christmas Dinner meeting began. The festive atmosphere did not dampen the focus on the upcoming Greek Independence Celebrations in 2024. President Georgia Chletcos took the stage to announce the distinguished honorees for the year. Dr. Anthony Limberakis was chosen to receive the 2024 Eleftheria Medal, while Mr. Philip Christopher was named the 2024 Grand Marshal.
President Chletcos mentioned that the celebration of Greek Independence in 2024 would coincide with the 50th anniversary of the illegal occupation of Cyprus, which added a poignant significance to the evening’s events.
As the night progressed, excitement grew for the highly anticipated event on the Federation’s calendar. The Federation has officially announced its annual Vasilopita meeting scheduled for January 11, 2024, at 6:00 PM, hosted by the Ikarian Brotherhood “Atheras Chapter” at the Atheras Center in Pennsauken. All member organizations have been warmly invited to participate in this special gathering. The evening would be graced by Metropolitan Apostolos, who will bless the Vasilopita, adding a sacred touch to this cherished annual event.
The Federation also expressed gratitude for the continued support of its member organizations and looked forward to the shared celebrations and meaningful moments in the upcoming year.
