Georgia Pittaulis Balassis, age 93, of Philadelphia, PA passed away on December 25th, 2018.
She was born on January 25th, 1925 in Chios, Greece, was the oldest of three children, George (Mary) Pittaulis and Andreana Charokopos. Georgia married the love of her life John Balassis and raised four children, Marcella, Areata (Stavros), Peter (Marina), and Joanie (Lazaros). She spent her marital years in Philadelphia, PA.
Georgia was known for her love of sewing, knitting, and domestic qualities, as she raised her children, providing them with hand-made clothes, and working as a seamstress from home. She was known for baking the best Greek sweets, making delicious home-cooked meals, and always being surrounded by family. She was a loving and devoted mother who put family above all. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, love of shopping & dressing in the best, eating lots of sweets & pastries, and always made sure her hair was perfect before leaving home.
She is loved and appreciated by all of her family and friends. May her memory be eternal.
The services will be December 28, 2018, at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 256 S 8th St, Philadelphia, PA 19107. The viewing is at 10 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am. She will be laid to rest at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike Rockledge, PA 19046.
