The American Hellenic Institute Foundation is seeking new work from scholars, educators, students, and independent writers for the 2026 volume of The American Journal of Contemporary Hellenic Issues.
Volume 16 of the journal, scheduled for publication in Fall 2026, will be edited by Dr. Constantine G. Hatzidimitriou. The issue will focus on Hellenic history, culture, language, politics, society, and contemporary issues affecting Greece and the global Greek community.
This year’s volume will also include a special section on the Greek language, following UNESCO’s proclamation of February 9 as World Greek Language Day. The section will explore the language’s history, development, influence, and continuing role in the Greek diaspora.
For Greek-American students, researchers, writers, and educators working between memory, language, identity, and public life, the journal offers a formal place to enter the conversation. AHIF describes the publication as a forum for varied ideas and voices on Hellenic civilization, contemporary Hellenic affairs, Greek America, and the Eastern Mediterranean.
The call is open to established scholars, graduate students, educators, independent authors, college students, and early-career scholars. The journal also welcomes work for “Emerging Voices of Greek America,” a section featuring college students and early-career contributors.
Authors may submit either a one-page proposal or a completed manuscript by August 20, 2026. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
Manuscripts should be written in English and submitted in Microsoft Word format. AHIF asks contributors to follow the Chicago Manual of Style, use endnotes only, and include a short biographical note of 50 to 100 words.
Recommended lengths are 7,000 to 8,000 words for scholarly articles, 1,000 to 2,000 words for book reviews, and 2,500 to 3,500 words for shorter articles and essays.
Proposals or completed manuscripts may be sent to Dr. Constantine G. Hatzidimitriou at ghatzidimitriou1@aol.com or Yola Pakhchanian at yolapack@ahiworld.org. Submission guidelines and previous issues are available through AHIF.
