Greek Flag Raising Ceremony at Philadelphia City Hall – Highlights & Photo Gallery

On April 4, 2025, the Annual Greek Flag Raising Ceremony took place at Philadelphia City Hall, bringing together members of the local Greek-American community and city officials to mark Greece’s fight for independence.

The ceremony included remarks and blessings by His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey, as well as the participation of the Greek Presidential Guard (Evzones). Traditional dances were performed by the Pontian Akritai of Philadelphia, highlighting the community’s cultural heritage.

Veronica Crisp performed the Greek national anthem, and the Eleftheria Medal was awarded to Caterina Papoulias-Sakellaris, who addressed attendees with a few brief and thoughtful remarks.
