Wilmington, DE – The parishioners of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church invite you to to the 40th Annual Greek Festival, Tuesday, June 2 – Saturday, June 6. Take a trip to Greece without leaving Delaware! Be part of a modern Greek Agora (a gathering place). Enjoy renowned Greek Philoxenia (hospitality and love of strangers) as we open our home and invite you to enjoy the aromas and tastes of authentic homemade Greek cooking, the sounds of mesmerizing bouzouki music, and the sights of our very own Terpsechorian Youth Folk Dance Troupes. Join our Glendi (party) celebrating our culture daily starting at 11am with lunch for eat in or curbside take out.
Homemade traditional foods like Moussaka (eggplant, potato and seasoned beef casserole), Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and Spanakopita (spinach pie), daily specials, and more are served in the Hellenic Community Center from 11am – 9:30pm. Outside, from 5pm – 11pm, you can enjoy delicacies such as Souvlaki (shish-kabob), Gyro (lamb and beef sandwich) and Calamari prepared right before your eyes. Grab a table and some imported Greek beer or wine with your friends and family while listening to Philadelphia’s Atlantis, a regionally renowned orchestra, playing for their 31st year. And get up and dance!!!
For dessert, savor a bowl of loukoumades (honey balls), baklava (phyllo dough layered with walnuts and drizzled with a cinnamon/sugar/honey blend) or other Greek sweets. Sip on a cup of Greek coffee and watch the Award Winning Terpsechorian Dance Troupes of various ages. When they’re finished their presentation, they will grab you to join them on the dance floor… OPA!
George Tsavalas, festival co-chair, states, “The Greek Festival is an annual event where we open our house to celebrate our heritage and culture with our local and regional community neighbors. We will extend you our ‘Philoxenia’ and know you will enjoy your trip to Wilmington’s Greek Agora.” The Holy Trinity Greek Festival is FREE and a rain or shine event, located at 9th & Broom Streets.
