Washington, DC – The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) celebrated its 51st Anniversary Hellenic Heritage Achievement and National Public Service Awards Dinner on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at The Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C.
The event brought together leaders, dignitaries, and members of the Greek-American community to honor individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Hellenism and public service.
This year’s honorees were Kostas Alexakis, Chairman and CEO of USL Financials, and George Logothetis, Executive Chairman of Libra Group. Alexakis was recognized for his distinguished career as a businessman, lawyer, and engineer. Under his leadership, USL Financials has become a trusted provider of financial systems for governments, universities, and nonprofits across North America and the Caribbean. Beyond his professional success, Alexakis has been a steadfast advocate for the Greek-American community and an active supporter of political and philanthropic initiatives that strengthen ties between Greece and the United States.
Logothetis was celebrated for his visionary leadership in global business and his dedication to social responsibility. Libra Group, a multinational conglomerate operating across six continents, has flourished under Logothetis’ guidance. He is also widely recognized for his commitment to philanthropy through programs that promote education, entrepreneurship, and community development worldwide.
The evening was further elevated by a stunning performance from Sophia Pelekasis, a Greek-American soprano and student at The Juilliard School. Her heartfelt renditions of the Greek and American National Anthems captivated the audience, adding an emotional and unifying touch to the celebration.
AHI President Nick Larigakis praised the honorees for their extraordinary contributions to advancing Hellenism and inspiring future generations. He emphasized that their achievements exemplify the enduring connection between Greek heritage and American values—a bond that continues to thrive through events like this one.
