Philadelphia-area resident John Televantos and his family have established the Televantos Family Scholarship through the Cyprus Children’s Fund, providing two annual awards to qualified students. Televantos was honored with the organization’s Humanitarian and Philanthropic Award on Saturday, October 24, 2026, during its annual Harvest Champagne Brunch at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey.
Born in Famagusta, Cyprus, Televantos left the island at age 16 on a scholarship to complete high school in London. He later studied chemical engineering at Imperial College London, where he earned his doctorate. He and his wife, Artemis, settled in the Philadelphia suburbs in 1993 and continue to live in the area, according to the fund’s official event program.
Televantos is a senior partner at Arsenal Capital Partners, a New York-based private equity firm specializing in industrial and healthcare investments.
At the October 24 ceremony, Cyprus Children’s Fund President Nicos Zittis thanked Televantos and his family for establishing the scholarships. Among those attending were Kyriakos Poyiatzis, Consul General of Cyprus in New York, and the Rev. Evagoras Constantinides, representing Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.
Zittis reported that the organization has distributed more than $2 million in scholarships and over $5 million in assistance to children through its sponsorship programs.
The fund’s existing scholarship programs support students of Hellenic descent attending accredited American colleges and universities. Eligibility requirements, award amounts, and application dates for the new Televantos Family Scholarship have not yet been announced.
