Three films previously selected for the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival’s Discovery Days program have received a combined €1.065 million in co-production support from Eurimages.
LAGFF identified the three former selections in its July 24 newsletter. The Council of Europe fund announced the awards a month earlier, following its second project evaluation session of 2026.
Eurimages awarded €425,000 to My Name Is Lily, directed by Yianna Americanou of Cyprus; €390,000 to Elina Psykou’s Patrimonial Fears and Other Illusions; and €250,000 to Achinos, directed by Iris Baglanea of Greece. They were among 33 films selected for €10.212 million in total support.
Discovery Days works with films still in development. The four-day Los Angeles lab includes screenplay sessions, pitch preparation and meetings with producers, distributors, sales agents and festival programmers. The three funded films participated in different editions.
Written and directed by Americanou, My Name Is Lily follows an intersex woman forced to confront her childhood trauma when her intersex niece faces corrective surgery. The Cyprus-led production includes partners in Greece and Belgium.
Americanou presented the film at LAGFF with co-writer Christina Georgiou and producer Stelana Kliris. It later participated in the MIDPOINT Feature Launch program and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival’s Works in Development showcase.
Psykou’s Patrimonial Fears and Other Illusions follows three generations of women confronting their family’s past as magician David Copperfield arrives in Athens with plans to make the Acropolis disappear.
The film was presented at LAGFF’s International Project Discovery Forum, the earlier name of Discovery Days, in 2019. Then titled Patrimonial Fears and Other Symptoms, it received the forum’s top award. The co-production includes companies in Greece, the Netherlands and Cyprus.
Achinos centers on Athanasia and her younger sister, Eleftheria, who live with their father near a village in the Peloponnese. After learning that he is terminally ill, he declines hospitalization and begins preparing his daughters for life without him.
Baglanea developed the feature with producer Ioanna Bolomyti. The Eurimages-backed co-production includes partners in Greece and Croatia.
Eurimages assessed the films independently. Their earlier participation in Discovery Days gives the three European co-productions a shared Los Angeles connection and reflects the program’s role in preparing Greek and Cypriot projects for international development and financing.
