Media, PA – The Pan-Macedonian Association of Greater Philadelphia/Youth of Alexander the Great hosted a Panigiri this past weekend. Philadelphia’s area youth piled into St. George Greek Orthodox church to dance the night away to the sounds of Stoxos Entertainment. Philadelphia’s Youth of Alexander the Great Spirit of Macedonia Dance group performed original folk dancing, adding to the entertainment for the evening.
Four scholarships were also awarded in honor of Effie Flamos. The scholarship recipients were: Ioanna Yiantsos, Christos Yiantsos, Matt Christofidis and Angelika Klingos. The Effie Flamos Memorial Scholarship was established by the Pan-Macedonian Society of Philadelphia on June 20, 1973. It is awarded annually in memory of Effie Flamos who died on June 7, 1973 at the age of 39 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Effie Flames was beloved by her family and hundreds of friends in our Community. She was a longstanding member of the Pan Macedonian Society of Philadelphia, having faithfully served as Vice President , Secretary, and member of the Board of Directors.
