Elkins Park, PA – Parents, teachers and students of the Greek Orthodox community of Annunciation Church attended the 1st day of Greek school on Tuesday. Cosmos Philly stopped in to record the afternoon.
A traditional agiasmos performed by Father Johns, before heading off into their classes. The students introduced themselves and became acclimated with the language, history and religion.
Annunciation saw a surge in population by approximately 40% this year. In addition, a new teachers from Greece was added to the program.
We spoke with Principal John Avgiris, who gave us some insight about the upcoming new year and met with some of the students who expressed their excitement about being back.
