On August 19, 2020, heaven gained a new angel with the passing of Nicholas Karas. Nicholas was born on November 26, 1926, in Kilkis, Greece.
From coming to America as a Greek immigrant hoping to create his American dream, he not only accomplished that himself but also sponsored many others to come and do just that for their families as well.
Nicholas worked in the foodservice industry for many years. He began his journey at the Alpha Club in Philadelphia and continued his hard work at the Tavern Restaurant. Finally, in 1982 he was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning his own business. Many students on the Drexel University Campus have fond memories of Nicholas and Valentina serving lunch from their Nick’s Blue Truck.
He was a loving husband, father, and Pappou. As a dedicated family man, his life passion was the well-being of his children and nine grandchildren. His humble selflessness, determination, and most of all, work ethic were inspiring to all who knew him. He was a role model to many who met him, and he will be truly missed.
