Paraskevi (Vickie) Polakis Sagos passed away on the morning of December 15, 2025, at the age of 60.
She was born on February 21, 1965, in Athens, Greece, where she spent her early years before building her life in the United States. Paraskevi carried her Greek roots with pride throughout her life, guided by a deep devotion to family, faith, and perseverance.
Above all else, she was a devoted mother. Her children were the center of her world, and she expressed her love in countless everyday ways. She hosted unforgettable birthday parties, made sure her children never missed Greek church events, GOYA gatherings, basketball practices, or a single Sight & Sound performance. She loved the church bids and buys and was always eager to support the parish community. Late nights were often spent baking glyka, and no friend ever left her home without something sweet to take along.
Paraskevi is survived by her beloved children, Vassiliki (Bessie) Sagos and Nicholaos Sagos, with their father, Ilias Sagos, as well as her brother, Marios (Marisil). Her love, sacrifices, and guidance shaped her children’s lives in ways that will endure.
For much of her life, Paraskevi faced illness and hardship, yet she met every challenge with resolve and determination. She never allowed adversity to define her or diminish the love she gave to her family.
Known for her humor, her fiery and stubborn Greek spirit, and her unwavering will, Paraskevi lived life on her own terms. Fearless and deeply devoted, her presence could be felt the moment she entered a room. Her warmth, perseverance, and inner resolve remain an enduring part of her legacy.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 229 Powell Lane, Upper Darby, PA 19082. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Fernwood Cemetery, Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents.
In honor of Paraskevi’s memory and in recognition of her courageous battle with cancer, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
