Upper Darby, PA – No Surprises as PGBL Hits Midseason Mark
With the PGBL season nearing its halfway point, the standings are beginning to take shape — and Mr. PGBL’s picks continue to hit the mark. Thursday night featured three competitive matchups that further clarified the playoff picture.
Game 1: Wolfpack 73 – Sixers 55
The night opened with a tightly contested first half between the Wolfpack and the Sixers, who entered the break tied. But the second half was all Wolfpack. They turned up the intensity, dominated both ends of the court, and pulled away with ease. The win keeps the Pack firmly among the league’s top teams.
Game 2: Revolution 48 – Mavericks 34
Game two was a gritty, low-scoring affair. Both teams brought strong defensive energy, but it was the Revolution who found just enough offense to come out on top. The Mavericks fought hard but struggled to generate consistent scoring opportunities in the second half.
Game 3: Rip City 71 – Spartans 46
The Spartans battled through a strong first half and kept things close, but Rip City’s experience and depth took over. Jim Armenakis dominated the boards and helped Rip City break away in the second half. With the win, they hold onto the #2 spot in the White Division, while the Spartans continue their hunt for a second victory.
As the season progresses, the top contenders are starting to separate themselves — but there’s still plenty of basketball left, and the second half promises even more intensity.
