The flag of Greece on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway is one of approximately ninety flags that represent nations from around the world. The annual Greek Independence Day parade starts here with the singing of the national anthems of Greece and the United States. The flags were first installed in 1976 during the city’s bicentennial celebration. Only those countries that have a significant population in Philadelphia are represented.
