Philadelphia, PA – This past Sunday, St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Philadelphia held a special memorial service in remembrance of the lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
Father Costa led the service and included a solemn tribute to the victims, reading each of their names aloud during the liturgy. The moment was deeply moving for parishioners, many of whom gathered in quiet reflection as the church honored the children and adults who lost their lives in the tragic event.
In the spirit of Orthodox tradition and community compassion, the memorial served as a reminder that even from a distance, the pain of such a loss is shared—and that prayer, remembrance, and unity remain powerful acts of support.
