Upper Darby, PA – Some 100 students attended the first day of Greek at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church in Upper Darby, this past Friday. Moms and Dads escorted in their children and were greeted by hugs and kisses from teachers. The k-8 program had several new teachers added to the program, filling some vacancies that were created.

Father Nektarios took his final picture with the St. Demetrios Greek school students and teachers, before performing the Agiasmo – blessing for the new year. He addressed the kids and reflected on the long history of the Greek language before explaining that a new parish priest would be here the following week.

He later visited many of the classrooms where the kids were getting introduced to their teachers and getting a syllabus of the new year. Hugs and high fives were exchanged, along with best wishes for the coming year.
