Upper Darby, PA – Greek School students from St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church performed the Greek National Anthem yesterday under the direction of Father Gregory Gilbert. The occasion was in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence, which is being celebrated across the region this month.
Father Gilbert spoke about the historic day and its significance, along with Mike Economou, St. Demetrios Parish President. The Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Greater Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley sponsored the event that continues to visit area churches and key locations, bringing awareness to Greek culture and history. Federation Vice-President Stefanos Evangelopoulos congratulated the teacher and students on their performance.
