Broomall, PA – At this time of year some of us dream about that annual vacation to a far away retreat, with blue waters. Ok, for us Greeks, it’s probable Greece. But Hawaii has that allure we, as Americans appreciate and dream about. This past Thursday, St. Luke Greek Orthodox church, under the direction of the Ladies Philoptochos hosted it’s annual Bid ‘n Buy under the the theme, “Aloha Hawaii”, bringing that Island hot spot a bit closer.
An overwhelming crowd filled the church hall with neighbors, friends and sister Philoptochos chapters from as far away as Baltimore and the Jersey shore. Alexis Limberakis (President of the Ladies Philoptochos Society) and Chairman, Betty Tsarouchis took on the annual task with great success.
The add book for the event listed hundreds of names and companies that participated. Everything from baskets of cheer to Lagos Jewelry and restaurant tickets were raffled away in the capacity filled gymnasium. Decorated in floral colors associated with Hawaii, the gymnasium was transformed into a summer paradise. Proceeds from the event go to a variety of charities associated with the ladies Philoptochos.
