Valley Forge, PA – Epiphany Day was commemorated yesterday at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox church and then along the Schuylkill River. Led by their spiritual leader, Father Peter Thornberg, the parishioners were blesses and received holy water at church following the special service that celebrated the baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River.
The congregation then retreated just down the road to the Schuylkill river where Holy water was was poured and a wooden cross was tossed into the icy waters three times by Father Thornberg. A short service completed the day. The Parish is celebrating 35 years now in the Norristown area.
