Looking forward to 2026? What better way to welcome the new year than by sharing a Vasilopita, St. Basil’s Bread, with family and friends.
The Ladies Philoptochos of St. Sophia, “Pistis, Elpis & Agape,” invite the community to take part in this cherished New Year’s tradition of faith, giving, and luck. Each Vasilopita is baked with care and carries the blessing of St. Basil the Great, the father of philanthropy. Tradition holds that whoever finds the hidden coin inside the bread will receive good fortune for the year ahead.

A Tradition of Giving and Blessing
The Vasilopita tradition reminds us of the spirit of generosity and community that St. Basil inspired. By supporting the Philoptochos, you not only carry on this beautiful custom but also help fund the organization’s charitable outreach throughout the year.
Bring home a piece of faith, heritage, and sweet fortune this holiday season and start your 2026 with the joy of giving and the blessing of good luck.
