After years of planning, artistic labor, and parish support, the walls and dome of St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill are now fully adorned.
On Wednesday, February 18 at 6:30 p.m., the parish will formally present the completed iconography of its sanctuary, marking a defining moment in the church’s spiritual and visual life.
The evening will begin with the chanting of the Paraklesis to St. Thomas, followed by a presentation of the iconographic program by the church’s iconographer, Georgios Giaskaris. His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey is expected to attend, underscoring the significance of the occasion for both the parish and the wider Metropolis.
In the Orthodox tradition, iconography does more than beautify a space. It frames worship. The placement of Christ in the dome, the Theotokos in the apse, and the saints and feast scenes along the walls creates a theological narrative that surrounds the faithful during prayer. With the final elements now in place, St. Thomas stands fully realized in its liturgical form.
The parish describes the completion as the fulfillment of a long-awaited vision and a milestone achieved through collective effort. Over time, clergy, parish leadership, donors, and families contributed to bring the project to completion.

During the program, Giaskaris and his collaborators will be recognized for their work, reflecting the craftsmanship and dedication required to complete an iconographic program of this scale.
