Stamatia Giannakos

Stamatia Giannakos, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, on Friday, January 9, 2026. She was 95.

She was born on March 22, 1930, in Chios, Greece, and immigrated to the United States in the 1950s in search of a better life. Known affectionately as “Titika,” she carried with her a strong work ethic and a deep sense of care for those around her.

A seamstress throughout her life, Stamatia found her greatest joy in sewing clothes for her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. It was work she approached with patience and pride, and it became one of the many quiet ways she expressed love. She also enjoyed gardening and found peace in tending to spring blooms year after year.

Stamatia lived a full life shaped by love, resilience, and connection. She treasured her travels, especially her visits back to Greece to see her sisters. Closer to home, she enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, including visits to the Showboat and Harrah’s casinos. Above all, she valued time spent with family and friends, moments that gave her life its meaning.

She is survived by family in Greece; her devoted daughter, Efthemia; her granddaughters, Kaliopi and Despina (Shane); and her five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Brianna, Shane, Despina, and Markella. She is also remembered fondly by friends and neighbors who loved her dearly.

Services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Viewing will take place at 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Fernwood Cemetery in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. Friends and family are invited to gather afterward at Casey’s in Drexel Hill to celebrate Titika’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Little Flower Manor Nursing Home.
