Upper Darby – The Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware Valley hosted its end-of-year meeting last week at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church. Stathis Karadonis was elected the new President of the Federation for the upcoming year.
The Federation is an umbrella organization for the Greek American community of Philadelphia. Some 45 churches and organizations have representatives that are part of the ongoing efforts to promote Hellenism in the Delaware Valley. The Federation’s highlighted event is the annual Greek Independence Day parade, which showcases all of its parishes and organizations throughout the Delaware Valley at their annual parade along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
