The Hellenic Initiative’s sold-out evening brings together Hellenes and Philhellenes from across the world
At The Dorchester in London, more than four hundred guests gathered on October 9th for a night filled with music, generosity, and unmistakable Greek spirit. The Hellenic Initiative (THI) hosted its 9th Annual London Gala, raising a record $512,000 to support its ongoing work in Greece and Cyprus, from humanitarian aid to projects that strengthen the country’s economic future.
Founded in 2012, The Hellenic Initiative unites Greeks and Philhellenes worldwide to invest in sustainable development and humanitarian programs that help rebuild and reimagine the future of Greece.
The black-tie event, one of London’s most anticipated gatherings for Greeks and Philhellenes, featured a performance by Konstantinos Argiros, one of Greece’s most beloved artists. Hosted by THI Board Members Nikos Stathopoulos, Constantine Logothetis, and Peter Poulos, together with Princess Tatiana Blatnik, the evening celebrated not only generosity but also the shared connection that keeps the global Hellenic community close.
Under the chandeliers of The Dorchester ballroom, guests waved flags and sang along as Argiros closed the night, a moment that perfectly captured the feeling of unity and pride that carried through the evening.
Two organizations were honored for their outstanding work in Greece: Make-A-Wish Greece, which has granted wishes to more than 4,000 children facing serious illnesses since 1996, and Wise Greece, a nonprofit that promotes small Greek producers and donates food to families and the elderly living below the poverty line. Princess Tatiana presented the award to Make-A-Wish Greece President Eleni Konstantinidi and Board Member Konstantine Antonopoulos, while Wise Greece founder Melina Taprantzi accepted the organization’s award from Peter Poulos.
Among the distinguished guests were Greece’s Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, Greek Ambassador to the UK Ioannis Tsaousis, U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberley Guilfoyle, and U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus and Ukraine Julie Davis. They joined THI leaders and members from around the world, including representatives from Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
“This night was filled with hope, generosity, and Greek philotimo,” said Stathopoulos. “It showed again how THI has built a powerful network of support, uniting us in our commitment to Greece and to each other.”
Since its founding, THI has donated more than $24 million in direct aid through over 360 grants, helping fuel entrepreneurship and social impact projects across Greece. The organization estimates its initiatives have contributed over $500 million to Greece’s GDP.
Constantine Logothetis added, “It’s deeply gratifying to see THI’s reach expand across the world and across generations. Our Gala brought together friends and supporters who share one mission, to give back to Greece and create a brighter future.”
The evening’s sponsors included Aegean Airlines, the official air carrier sponsor, and Carpo, which gifted all 400 guests with special treats.
Next up for THI is the 13th Annual New York Gala, set for December 6 at Cipriani Wall Street. A reminder that, whether in London, New York, or Sydney, the Greek diaspora continues to give back to the homeland in meaningful ways.
