The Third Greek Film Expo in Chicago will take place from Thursday, May 21, through Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the Pickwick Theatre in Park Ridge, Illinois.
The Expo is organized by the Consulate General of Greece in Chicago in cooperation with the Hellenic Film Society, the Hellenic Foundation, and the Pickwick Theatre. The four-day program includes Greek film screenings, special guests, and discussions.
All films will be screened with English subtitles. The schedule includes:
Thursday, May 21, 7 p.m.
Η θεία απ’ το Σικάγο (The Aunt from Chicago)
A 1957 Greek comedy about a Greek-American aunt who returns to Athens and disrupts the strict household of her brother while trying to help his daughters marry.
Friday, May 22, 7 p.m.

Pantelis Voulgaris’ 2017 historical drama centers on the Chaidari concentration camp and the execution of 200 Greek resistance prisoners at Kaisariani on May 1, 1944.

Ένας ήσυχος άνθρωπος (A Simple Man)
The film follows Makis, a quiet winemaker living with his daughter on a remote island, whose life is disrupted by an escaped convict.

Ουζερί Τσιτσάνης (Cloudy Sunday)
Set in German-occupied Thessaloniki, the film follows a forbidden love story against the backdrop of the city’s Jewish community and the music of Vassilis Tsitsanis.

Ράφτης (Tailor)
Sonia Liza Kenterman’s film follows Nikos, a tailor who reinvents his work through a mobile tailor shop after his family business is threatened.

1968
Tassos Boulmetis’ docufiction revisits the 1968 AEK Athens vs. Slavia Prague basketball final at Kallimarmaro Stadium, a landmark moment in Greek sports history.
Admission is free, with registration available through the Expo’s Eventbrite collection page. The screenings will be held at the Pickwick Theatre, 5 South Prospect Avenue, Park Ridge, Illinois.
