Thomas Colitsas of Plainsboro, New Jersey, passed away on the morning of November 21, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on March 30, 1947, in Albany, New York, to James and Christine Colitsas, and he married his wife, Nancy, in 1969.
Tom spent his life building things that mattered to him. He enjoyed creating new ventures, mentoring young people, and watching ideas grow. Over the years he launched several businesses, but the one that defined his professional life was his accounting firm, Thomas Colitsas and Associates. He worked there with pride and commitment until his final days, side by side with his son and partner, Jimmy.
Those close to him often talk about the daily moments that shaped his character. He liked beginning his mornings with a cup of coffee and a physical newspaper, and he often ended the day watching the History Channel with his wife. He loved traveling with family and friends, visiting Greece, Canada, England, Italy, and many other places, always ready to explore something new. His home was a gathering place for dinners, holidays, and long conversations. Theatre trips into New York City were part of that rhythm too, even when he agreed to musicals with a smile and a bit of reluctance.
Tom’s humor, curiosity, and steady presence remain with the people who loved him. He leaves behind his wife of fifty-six years, Nancy, his children Michelle and her husband Scott Williams, and Jimmy and his wife Maya, and his grandchildren Abigail, Tommy, Isabella, and Sawyer. His parents, James and Christine, and his sister, Sia, passed before him.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1101 River Road, Piscataway. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in North Brunswick, New Jersey.
The family asks that those who wish to honor Tom’s memory consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
