Three Hierarchs Celebration Hosted At St. Demetrios

Upper Darby, PA – On Sunday, St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, hosted the Three Hierarchs and Greek Letters Day. Thirteen parishes participated at the annual event that united the Greek Orthodox community.

The event recognizes three Holy Hierarchs, Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom. These highly influential bishops of the early church played pivotal roles in shaping Christian theology and are recognized for bringing Hellenes the Greek letters.

Poems, songs, and dances were performed for guests and his Eminence, Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey. He recognized the teachers for their effort to perpetuate the history of education and Orthodoxy. The event concluded with an announcement by his Eminence that the event will return to and be hosted by St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in 2018.
