Upper Darby, PA – On Saturday night the Greek community brought in the new year with a for a Greek concert that featured Katerina Topazi and Theodore Paounis. Funds from the event benefited the Greek Independence Day Parade that will be hosted along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Hosted by the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware Valley the event saw the community dancing and singing traditional songs performed by Paounis and Topazi. Local band Neo Kyma warmed up the crowd and then kept them on the dance floor.

The annual parade is the scheduled to take place on March 25th this year and is themed around the Macedonian Issue. Grand marshalls and Eleftheria Medal recipients have been announced. This is the community’s most significant event of the year that brings Hellenes on to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.
