The Cretans of Delaware Valley–Knossos will host a tribute to Vasilis Skoulas on December 6, 2025, at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, New Jersey. The program marks 65 years of Skoulas’ work as a musician and brings together several performers connected to the Cretan tradition.
Skoulas is widely recognized in Crete for his recordings and long association with the lyra. His work spans village festivals, studio albums, and collaborations with many Cretan musicians over the decades. For families in the Philadelphia area with roots in Crete, his music has been part of community life for a long time, and the event gives local audiences a chance to see him in person.

He will be joined by Spyros Skouradakis on laouto, Eleni Tornesanaki on guitar, and his sons Vasilis (younger) and Errikos on mandolin. Vocals will be shared among the group. The program also features percussion by Giorgos Lernis and emcee duties by journalist Kostas Balachoutis. A dance segment will be presented by the Youth of Minos Syllego of New York, whose members often perform at Cretan cultural events in the area. Singer Erini will appear as a guest artist.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. The evening includes dinner and open bar. Tickets are $150 for adults and $75 for children under 12. A raffle will take place during the event, with prizes including a lyra signed by Skoulas and a trip to Crete.
