Pennsauken, NJ – Slice after slice of New Years Vasilopita bread was handed out by Rev. Economos Panagiotis Lekkas of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church. Some 65 representatives of various Greek organizations and churches attended the first new year gathering at the Ikarian House, which has become a tradition.

The monthly meeting sponsored by the Federation of Hellenic-American Societies of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware Valley brought together members to review the upcoming Greek Independence Day parade (scheduled for March 21-22) and to promote various upcoming events throughout the winter and spring season.

Father Pratsinakis of St. Thomas Greek Orthodox church in Cherry Hill and Father Economos Panagiotis Lekkas of St. Demetrios performed a traditional agiasmo and prayer for the members before dinner. Meetings are held monthly by the Federation at rotating churches and clubhouses around the Delaware Valley. The meetings are open to the public and members of the Greek-American community are encouraged to attend.

The Federation of Hellenic-American Societies has created a new community website, (http://hellenicfed.org/) that features community events, and a calender with upcoming events.
