Philadelphia, PA – There was much applause and even a brief standing ovation for VP Biden as he addressed the Greek Orthodox community, at the 42nd biennial Gala dinner. “Your eminence, when I go, I wanna go Greek”, said VP Biden, speaking about the historical contributions Greece has made.

Some 1500 attendees from across North America gathered for this gala. Vice President Biden spoke on three areas of concern to both the Greek and American government. The Greek economy, occupied Cyprus and the closed theological school of Halki in Turkey. Biden restated the United States commitment to Greece and focused on Cyprus and it’s likely changes that may bring a conclusion to fruition in the near future.

The reconstruction of the Saint Nicholas National Shrine at ground zero was also featured during the evening. The video featured the architecture and relevance of Saint Nicholas as a national Shrine to the Greek Orthodox church, but more importantly the world.
