Applications are now open for the Heritage Greece Program, a fully funded summer program for Greek-American and Canadian college students of Hellenic descent.
The program, run by the National Hellenic Society, offers a two-week academic and cultural program in Greece. Costs, including tuition, housing, meals, transportation within Greece, and instructional materials, are covered. Participants are responsible for airfare and personal expenses.
For summer 2026, the program will be offered through three partner institutions in Greece.
Program Structure
The Heritage Greece Program includes classroom instruction, scheduled site visits, and organized group activities. Participants enroll in a transferable, one-credit language and culture course and follow a structured daily schedule set by the host institution.
Programming includes visits to archaeological sites, museums, and urban locations. Academic instruction and activities vary by institution and location.

Each institution manages its own application process. Applicants may apply to more than one program but may participate in only one session.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Between 18 and 26 years of age
- Enrolled in a U.S. or Canadian college or university
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- U.S. or Canadian citizenship
- Hellenic descent, defined as having a parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent born in Greece or Cyprus
Applicants who have previously visited Greece are eligible.
Travel and Housing
Participants arrange and pay for their own travel to and from Greece. Housing, meals, and local transportation are provided according to each institution’s program schedule.
Arrival instructions and housing details are provided to accepted students before the program begins.
