Philadelphia, PA – The Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia is hosting its third Photographic Tour and Presentation, “The Immigrant Experience.” The community is invited to participate and attend the event that will showcase the immigrant experience through personal photographs submitted by our community.
The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 7th, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Cooper University Hospital, right over the Ben Franklin Bridge in Camden New Jersey; easily accessible with plenty of parking. A beautiful view of the city from atop the 10th floor of Roberts Pavilion will be the background for the event. For entering your images and attending the event:
- Enter your historical photos in our photo contest. We will assign categories, for example, historical places or people, everyday life and work, groups and activities, etc. Send your digital photo files to phototour@gahsp.org and visit the GAHSP website to see a previous exhibit. For personal instructions call Nick Yiantsos at (609) 670-2749 or Cheri Christakis at (610) 427-3630. Submission deadline is Monday, April 24, 2017.
- Be a judge and socialize as we review the photos and choose the most interesting for prizes.
- Listen to a short, scholarly presentation by Dr. Kostis Kourelis from (Franklin and Marshall) about “The Immigrant Experience.”
- Tell a member of the committee your immigrant story or the story of your family. GAHSP is looking for subject matter for their archives and future presentations.
