Mineral pigments, white wine, and egg yolk. These centuries-old ingredients, carefully blended by Athenian iconographer Georgios Kordis and his team, are once again being used to bring sacred images to life inside the newly built St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Norristown, Pennsylvania.
The murals are painted using the traditional Byzantine technique of fresco, a method passed down through generations and now carried across the Atlantic to this new spiritual home.
Outside the church, two golden crosses rise above the roofline, marking both a fresh beginning for the parish and a lasting connection to the faith and heritage that brought it here.
