Cherry Hill, NJ – Independence Day events started at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox church on Saturday afternoon. The Sunday school students dressed in folk attire, and shared historic poems of liberty as parishioners looked on. A series of dance performances from various regions of Greece concluded the afternoon. The annual event is hosted each year on the Saturday before the big parade. Father Pratsinakis of St. Thomas spoke about the history of Independence day. “It is a time to remember our ancestors and be grateful for their sacrifices. This year, was the 194 anniversary of liberation for Greece.
