On May 20th, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church in Upper Darby, members of the Greek community and those of the Pontian club house, “Akritai” gathered for a memorial service in honor of their homeland and those lost to genocide (1914-1923). Church service began the day of recognition that many young members of the Pontian society attended and then was followed by Father Nectarios talk on the importance of truth and history. A song of lament was sung by the “Akritai” and was accompanied by Lyra player Christos Tictacpanidis of NY. that concluded the service following the laying of a wreath.
