St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill welcomed His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey on Holy Friday, where he presided over the Epitaphios service at 7:00 P.M. The church was filled with parishioners and visitors from nearby communities, all gathered for one of the most solemn moments of Holy Week.
The service commemorates the burial of Christ and invites the faithful into an evening of mourning, reflection, and prayer. Metropolitan Apostolos led the hymns and readings with calm and reverence, offering a spiritual presence that resonated throughout the evening.
The procession of the flower-adorned Epitaphios, accompanied by the chanting of the Lamentations, drew the congregation into a shared experience of devotion. Candles lit the dimmed sanctuary as voices joined together in remembrance and hope.
The archpastoral visit marked a meaningful moment for the community of St. Thomas. His Eminence’s presence deepened the spiritual atmosphere of Holy Friday and brought a sense of unity to all those in attendance.
