The Delaware Valley Greek Orthodox Basketball League (D.V.G.O.B.L.) tipped off its 2012–2013 season this past weekend at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby. Three games opened the schedule—two girls’ matchups and one boys’ game—setting the tone for another exciting season of GOYA basketball.
In the first game, the St. George of Media girls edged out the St. Demetrios (B) team in a hard-fought battle, winning 14–10. The second game saw Holy Trinity of Egg Harbor dominate St. Luke of Broomall in boys’ action with a commanding 41–11 victory. The third and final game was another strong showing by Holy Trinity, as their girls team defeated St. George of Media (B) 24–8.
