September 21, 2012 – Philadelphia – Newly assigned to the Greek Orthodox parish of Evangelismos Church on Bustleton Avenue, Father Aleksandros, formerly of St. Nicholas Church in Atlantic City, began the new Greek school year this past week with the traditional Ayiasmo blessing. More than 60 students, along with family members and teachers, gathered for the event.

In his remarks to parents, Father Aleksandros emphasized the importance of keeping the language alive at home by speaking Greek as often as possible. He reminded them that more than 40 percent of the English language has roots in Greek and that the Bible was originally written in Greek.
