September 21, 2012. Philadelphia. New to the Greek Orthodox Parrish of Evangelismos Church (Bustleton), Father Aleksandros, formally of St. Nicholas Church in Atlantic City, kicked off the new Greek school year with the traditional Ayiasmo this past week. Family members and teachers a like joined in with more than 60 students for the event.
Father Aleksandros spoke about keeping the language alive at home by speaking Greek as often as possible in his speech to the parents. He reminded them that more 40 percent of the daily used English language is founded on Greek and that the bible was written in Greek.
