Elkins Park, PA – On Saturday, March 15th, parishioners and friends of Annunciation/Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church came together for a double celebration—honoring the Feast of the Annunciation and the 204th anniversary of Greek Independence. The evening was a blend of faith, culture, and community, bringing together people of all ages for a lively and meaningful gathering.

The event began with a church service, where attendees reflected on the significance of the Annunciation in Orthodox Christianity. Following the service, the community moved to the parish hall, where Greek music, traditional cuisine, and dancing set the tone for an evening filled with energy and camaraderie. From homemade spanakopita to roasted lamb, the food was a highlight, prepared by dedicated volunteers who take pride in keeping these traditions alive.

Beyond the food and festivities, the night was also about strengthening connections. Families and friends reunited, sharing stories and memories, while new friendships were formed over shared experiences. The atmosphere reflected the resilience and unity of the parish, which has been a cornerstone of the local Greek-American community for generations.

Looking ahead, the celebration also served as a preview of a major milestone—the 125th anniversary of Annunciation Elkins Park, which will be commemorated next year. Plans are already underway for a special event that will honor the church’s long history and its role in preserving faith and heritage.

As the evening came to a close, there was a shared sense of pride and anticipation—for the traditions that have brought the community together and for those that will continue for years to come.
