Cherry Hill, NJ – “Now this place looks like a Byzantine Orthodox church,” said his Eminence, Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey. Metropolitan Evangelos hosted the first services at the newly renovated St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church yesterday. The day coincided with the Feast Day of St. Thomas.

Several dignitaries were present for the service, including AHEPA Supreme President George Horiatis, Philadelphia Federation President Georgia Halakos, and Konstantinos Koutras, Consul General of Greece in New York.

Metropolitan Evangelos also went on to say that the newly renovated church can only be more than brick and mortar if they continue to support the parish and bring together parishioners. St. Thomas Greek Orthodox church is home to some 700 families, arguable one of the largest congregations in the metropolitan Philadelphia area. The St. Thomas community started in 1967.
