Upper Darby, PA – The wonderful aroma of Greek food cooking and music playing filled the air at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church. Festival season has returned.

The drive-thru and pick-up event held all this weekend in Upper Darby brought in the fans, families, and friends to enjoy the time-honored tradition. Tents around the campus, along with a bar and a Greek-style convenience store known as a bakaliko, gave you the feel of Greece. Tables filled with smiling faces and void of masks were a nice change, as a sense of normalcy has nearly returned.

Greek music could be heard all over the campus, but the familiar dance group performances are yet to be added. As Covid restrictions have been lifted for those outside and vaccinated, people mingled while they ate. Retsina, Mythos, souvlaki, gyros, and kinds of Greek traditional food was served.

The annual event continues through the weekend, (May 20-23, 2021). The four-day affair has the area’s best Greek food and a traditional Greek atmosphere to match. For more information or to place an order visit https://saintdemetrios.org/festival.
