Cherry Hill, NJ – The St. Irene Philoptochos Society of St. Thomas Orthodox Church sponsored an event with the showing of the deeply moving film “Risen” at the Danielle Kousoulis cultural center on Friday evening, February 17, 2023.
The film, first released in 2016, is an epic Biblical story of Christ’s resurrection, as seen in the eyes of a nonbeliever Roman soldier. The Philoptochos volunteers provided the over 70 attendees with pizza, freshly made popcorn, and refreshments as part of its recruitment and socializing program. It is the second of the series, and its success has encouraged the organizing committee members as a sure sign of its repetition.
