German broadcaster Deutsche Welle visited the divided island of Cyprus to follow up on the life of Georgia Sokratos. Georgia lives in the mountains of Paphos, in the Greek-administered south, where she has been running a goat farm for more than 30 years.
She was once married to a Turkish Cypriot who left the family for the northern, occupied side of the island. Today, her son works alongside her to keep the farm going.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when a coup backed by the Greek military junta was followed by a Turkish military intervention. The Republic of Cyprus controls the south, while the Turkish-controlled north is recognized only by Turkey. A United Nations buffer zone runs across the island, separating the two communities.
Deutsche Welle first met this Greek Cypriot family 10 years ago. Now they return to see how life has changed and what challenges Georgia continues to face.
