Olga “Dolly” Demetris passed away on December 17, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Jack. Loving and devoted mother of Dennis (Angelique), Alexis (Cary) Limberakis, Lisa (Anthony) Palmieri, LeAnne Kauriga, and Artemis “Tami” (George) Tsingiropoulos. Cherished grandmother of Alyssa, Jaclyn, Jonathan, Jacob, Kyra, Oriana, Athan, Jason, Stefan, Evan, Aris, and Christopher. Preceded in death by her infant son Christopher. Also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews.
Dolly was a past National Philoptochos Board Member, Philoptochos AGAPE AWARD recipient in 2010 and was awarded the The Archdiocesan Medal of St. Paul 1994. Among her many roles, Dolly also served as the Host Committee Chair for the 35th Biennial Philoptochos Convention in Philadelphia in 2000.
On a Metropolis Philoptochos level, Dolly was a long time Board Member having served on numerous committees and in the position of Second Vice President. In 2009, she was awarded the Metropolis of New Jersey Ambassador Award for dedication and service to Philoptochos and along with her late husband Jack, received the 2010 Ambassador Award for service to the Metropolis of New Jersey.
A 53 year member of Philoptochos, Dolly was a founding and lifetime board member of her Chapter of St. Luke in Broomall, PA , served as president 3 times, and held every office on the Executive Board. Dolly was the embodiment of Philoptochos and service to those in need. Along with Philoptochos, Dolly’s life was dedicated to her family, her faith, and beloved St. Luke Church.
Truly she had a zest for life and love of people and service to others, that the word “philotimo” and Dolly are synonymous! May her memory be Eternal.
Her funeral service will be held at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 35 N. Malin Rd, Broomall on Monday, December 21, 2015, at 11:00 am. Viewing: 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Sunday, December 20, and 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Monday in the church. Interment: Arlington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Ladies Philoptochos of St. Luke or the church beautification fund.
