Broomall, PA – On June 7th, Aristotle “Aris” Tsingiropoulos graduated from Bayard Rustin High school, and 4 days later the celebration of this milestone was given by his parents.
For those of those that know Aris, he is a young man full of passion, determination, fight, and heart! Passion for his Greek heritage, his Orthodox faith, his family, friends and overall zest for life! Aris has been a type I Juvenile Diabetic since the age of 3 and has had to deal with all of what comes with having it but nothing, truly nothing would ever bring this kid down! And to know him you would never even know the daily rituals he has to do to stay healthy and strong, and strong he is!
At Rustin High School he played hockey for four years and was nominated captain of his JV hockey team two years in a row as well as awarded the “Heart” award and “Leadership” award. These awards were given because of exactly those things. He may not have been the strongest or best player on the team, but he led with determination and always giving 110%. Aris also received the DECA recognition award from his school for participating in 4 years of developing and submitting business plans to be judged and awarded by community business leaders.
At St. Luke’s church he was an altar boy since 3rd grade and this past year was asked to be altar boy captain, a role he took seriously and was honored to have. He was also Vice President of GOYA his junior year and during his term helped organize the first Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Dodgeball tournament with the NJ Diocese in which proceeds went to Type I diabetes research. The JDRF is an organization that Aris’ family has been involved with for 15 years. Aris played GOYA basketball for six years. His spirit was always enjoyable to watch on the court and just like on his hockey team; he was always ready to encourage and motivate his teammates.
Aris will be attending West Chester University this fall where he plans on majoring in business administration. Because of his love for his faith, at some point during his college career, he plans on taking a semester to study Byzantine chant at Hellenic College.
Congratulations Aris! Axios!
