September 16th, 2012. Asbury Park, NJ – 65 Years later, the Blessing of the Waters tradition continues. The Blessing of the Waters took place on the shores of Asbury Park and was attended by annually by members of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. An estimated 500 people came to Asbury Park for church services that took place on the famed boardwalk, that were followed by the traditional cross being tossed by Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey.
