Philadelphia, PA – Ahepa districts 4 and 5 combined their conventions this past weekend in Philadelphia for what turned out to be a historic event. Known as the Power District 4 (PA) and District 5 (NJ, DE), AHEPA members gathered for their recent second time in history at the Sheraton Hotel in University City.
Friday, kicked off with a golf outing and reception. The reception was hosted at the Sugarhouse Casino on Delaware Ave. On Saturday morning and afternoon, the hotel was filled with AHEPANS from all over the Delaware Valley and from around the country. Meeting, discussing next years business and philanthropic efforts took place all day for both mens and womens organizations. The Daughters of Penelope from both districts also met and went off future goals as well.
All organizations joined up for lunch where a special guest appearance from known other than Batman was made. The message was clear, “don’t forget the children and others in need”, said Batman. Batman was on tour around the United States visiting hospitals and facilities inspiring and promoting philanthropy for others in need.
The lunch time event also recognized and awarded scholarship recipients from both districts and announced “Journey to Greece” winners as well. Chosen from the Maids of Athena and Sons of Pericles, this recipients will travel to Greece this summer where they will be embedded in both the educational and social climate of the country.
Later that afternoon, the district organizations adjourned for meetings and elections. District Governors and other elected positions were voted on and announced at end of day before breaking for the big Gala dinner, which was hosted by MC Basile the Comedian.
