The Pontian Society “Akritai of Philadelphia” hosted the annual Genocide ceremony yesterday in front of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby. Church parishioners and members of the organization gathered to commemorate the loss of their homeland and the lives of those that perished.
Pontian Akritai President Ifigenieia Pavlidou-Ikonomou and Genocide, A True Story producer Vasiliki Tsanaktsidou, reminded the community of the sacrifices of their forefathers and the continued efforts for recognition of the Pontian Genocide.
