Philadelphia, PA – The Federation of Hellenic-American Societies of Philadelphia, announced that this year’s annual Greek Independence Day  parade, will take place on April 17th, 2016.

The parade will commence at  Logans circle along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and conclude at Eakins Oval at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The annual celebration of Greek Independence Day in Philadelphia is commemorating the start of the War of Greek Independence in 1821 and is organized by the Federation of Hellenic-American Societies, an umbrella organization of over 45 Hellenic-American associations and churches.

Greek Independence Day is a national holiday honored annually in Greece on March 25. It coincides with the Greek Orthodox Church’s celebration of the Annunciation to the Theotokos.
